2024: When The Dream Began – Somnia’s Yearly Review
Somnia had an incredible year of building in 2024, with a ton of massive launches and many new partnerships formed. Since we’ve reached the end of the year, we want to take a moment to reflect on everything we have accomplished since we first announced our project in 2024.
Project Launch
Back in April we launched our website and unveiled our project to the world, along with the release of our Betanet, which saw over 1 million avatar mints during the campaign! We also launched our Telegram, Twitter and Discord channels, which now collectively have over 500,000 followers!
Our launch event for Somnia at NFT NYC was a massive success with over 300 attendees!
Somnia’s Founder Paul Thomas and Content Lead John Vibes were panel speakers at the main event where they discussed NFTs and Web3 Games.
Major Launches
Somnia had some big launches in 2024, and there’s already a lot going on in our ecosystem. We started out with the launch of the Somnia Playground this summer.
The Playground is a web-based platform that allows anyone to quickly generate their own virtual space and invite their friends.
The Playground expanded throughout the year, giving users the ability to create and deploy their own items with the Item Builder and NFTs with the Canvas Builder.
Then with the World Builder, Somniacs got the ability to build their own worlds and experiences.
Our most exciting launch this year was the launch of our Devnet, which gave the public a first look at the blockchain we’re developing. So far we have had millions of transactions and thousands of developer signups.
Somnia also announced a massive $10 million grant program to onboard developers into the Somnia ecosystem! Developers will also have access to Somnia’s in-house engineers for support, including the core development team, dApp team, and the game development services team. We also offer GTM support, as well as introductions to investors and connections in key industries like gaming.
Partnerships
In May, we announced that we would be teaming up with Yuga Labs to bring additional interoperability to the Otherside metaverse and new utility to their collections! This partnership also gives Yuga NFT holders a boost in our Somnia quests!
Somnia also announced a partnership with Grillz Gang, an OG NFT project that launched very early on in the NFT hype cycle.
As part of a partnership with Thrive and Apecoin, we are giving an Apekin avatar to anyone who holds at least 111 Apecoin! Claim yours now!
We announced a big partnership with Unstoppable Domains, giving Somniacs access to .dream domain names to establish your identity in the Virtual Society! We gave away over 2000 free .dream domains and they sold out in just 30 minutes! Minting has continued to be strong with a big demand for .dream domains!

Events
Somnia had a major presence at some of the biggest events of the year! Following our launch event in NYC, the Somnia team made it through historic floods in Dubai and were greeted with a wonderful response from the crowd at Token2049!
We also had a major presence at Consensus in Austin, TX, with traveling billboards, airport banners, a convention hall booth, and multiple side events!
Somnia brought the dream to EthCC in Brussels in June, participating in numerous events and making valuable connections!
Somnia spent September in Asia, visiting Korea Blockchain Week and Token2049 in Singapore! We had a packed schedule of side events at each location, and a massive booth at Token2049!
Somnia made a big impression at Devcon, one of the biggest crypto events of the year, in Bangkok, Thailand. Our team gave talks at nearly a dozen different events and we participated in a variety of different events with our partners.
Mainnet 2025!
Somnia had a great year in 2024, but we’re just getting started! We’ve been in the process of building and preparing for our mainnet, which we expect to launch this coming year in 2025! Stay tuned to our community channels for more details and don’t stop dreaming!
