Simplify The GLB Creation Process With AI

With Somnia’s Dream Builder, you can create any digital item that you imagine to import into the Somnia Playground. All that you need to create an item is a GLB file, and we published a tutorial showing how to import GLB files into the Dream builder.

The process of creating the GLB file to get the process started is a bit more complicated, but there are AI programs available that can make it easy for anyone to create a digital item of their own.

There are a ton of these services out there, and they all have varying degrees of success and varying cost. There is a whole list to choose from that you can experiment with, but our favorite, and the one that we have found to work the best, is called Meshy AI.

Today we’ll walk you through how to use Meshy AI to create your own GLB file.

When you first sign into Meshy, it can be a bit overwhelming, but you are looking for two options on the left menu, “Text to 3D” and “Image to 3D”

Text to 3D

When you click on “Text to 3D” you will see a type box on the left hand side of your screen. This is where you will enter the prompt for the image that item that you want to create.

Once you click generate, you will have a few options to choose from to refine your image, choose the one you like best and click “Refine.”

Next you will be shown a large preview, if you like it, click on the small download button on the right side of the screen.

Then you will be asked which format you want to download the file in, make sure you choose “glb” as shown below.

Congratulations! You now have an item that you can upload using the Dream Builder. See the Tutorial for the Dream Builder HERE.

Image to 3D

Find an image that you want to use as inspiration, or create one using an AI art generator. The image below shows you examples of what style of pictures will work and which will not.

Once you have selected an image, drop and drag it into the image space on the left side of the screen, or click upload and find the image on your device, and the click “generate.”

You will need to wait a few minutes as the 3D item generates.

When the generation is complete you will see an item appear in the loading window, click on it, and you see a large version of the item that you can move around. If you like what you see, click the download button on the right side of the screen.
