Somnia’s Massive First Month Was Just The Beginning
It’s only been a month since Somnia’s Mainnet went live, and the ecosystem is already buzzing with activity. In that short time, Somnia processed over 800 million transactions and secured multiple major exchange listings. Users have staked tokens, registered .somi domains, bridged assets from dozens of chains, and played the first wave of onchain games. Then, after a successful month, the community came together in Seoul during Korea Blockchain Week to celebrate.
Here’s a rundown of the biggest launches and milestones from Somnia’s first month of Mainnet.
Somnia Browser Goes Live
To make Mainnet accessible, the Somnia Browser launched as an all-in-one portal. Through it, users can add Somnia to their wallet, bridge and stake SOMI, track transactions, and explore applications already running on Mainnet. The browser simplifies onboarding by bringing frequently used features and projects into a single dashboard.
Cross-Chain Bridging With Stargate
Somnia assets can now move between 55+ blockchains through Stargate. At launch, USDT, USDC, and wETH are supported, with wBTC integration underway. This bridge ensures liquidity from established ecosystems can flow directly into Somnia, giving new users an immediate pathway to participate.
Staking and APR
Staking is now live on Somnia, giving SOMI holders a way to help secure the network while earning rewards. The staking dashboard makes it easy to see how much is being delegated, which validators are active, and what stakers can expect to earn.
Rewards are generated entirely from network usage. Half of all gas fees are burned, reducing the supply of SOMI, while the other half is distributed to validators and their delegators. You can start staking and earning a yield with your SOMI now!
.somi Domains
Somnia domains are live! Somniacs can now register and set primary .somi names to represent themselves and make their accounts easier to find. Instead of copying long alphanumeric wallet addresses, users can send funds to recognizable names and connect more naturally across games and other web3 applications. Have you claimed your domain yet?
5 games in 5 weeks
The launch of Mainnet was immediately followed by a surge of activity in gaming. In just five weeks, five new titles went live on Somnia: Intraverse’s Kart Racers, Café Cosmos, Ghosty Trip, Surviv.Fun, and Warzone Warriors. Each one represents a different approach to onchain play, from competitive tournaments to mobile-first experiences.
Sports Culture Onchain
Sports emerged as a major theme in Somnia’s first month, with both The Residency and Basketball.fun joining the ecosystem. The Residency is a football fan platform with virtual meet-ups, skill challenges, and mini-games. So far, Somnia and The Residency hosted 6 events, bringing in 121k unique fans, peaking at 22k concurrent fans, and recording 245k messages and reactions.
Basketball.fun, another new project that’s reimagining fantasy sports, will soon be coming to Somnia as well. Launching with support from NBA champion Tristan Thompson, the platform will tokenize player identities and tie their values to both sentiment and on-court performance. Fans can assemble rosters, speculate on rising talent, and earn rewards based on their predictions. This brings fantasy basketball into an onchain format where activity is transparent, interactive, and connected to real-world play.
Onchain Metrics
Somnia was also added to Chainspect this month, giving the community a live window into the network’s performance. The dashboard tracks key stats like real-time transactions per second, peak throughput, block times, and total transaction count since launch.
In its first few weeks, Somnia already passed 800 million transactions with sub-second finality and consistent block times of 0.1 seconds. The dashboard also highlights Somnia’s devnet peak of 1.05 million transactions per second, setting a benchmark for EVM chains. For developers and users, Chainspect makes it easy to see in real time how the network is scaling as more applications go live.
Reports from Delphi Digital, Messari and Four Pillars
New reports on Somnia’s technology and token launch were published by Delphi Digital, Messari and Four Pillars. The Delphi report highlighted Somnia’s potential to create sustainable in-game economies, addressing a long-standing weakness in traditional web3 game design. Messari’s report focused on Somnia’s unique tokenomics design, while Four Pillars provided additional analysis on how the model underpins long-term network growth.
Korea Blockchain Week
Somnia celebrated these Mainnet achievements at Korea Blockchain Week with a strong presence at the conference and a massive side event with over 650 attendees. As a sponsor, the team was on the main stage, with founder Paul Thomas joining a panel discussion, and held a booth where attendees could meet directly with the builders behind the project.
The highlight came with Somnia House on September 23rd, a side event that brought the community together to mark the launch of Mainnet. There was also a basketball court where Somniacs could shoot hoops with NBA star Tristan Thompson, and an exclusive performance by DJ Soda. A private KOL Lounge created space for creators, media voices, and cultural tastemakers to connect with the team. It was a celebration of both the technology and the community that is beginning to form around it.
Stay With Somnia
The first month set a strong foundation, but it’s only the beginning. Somnia is already supporting live games, large-scale fan engagement, and DeFi applications, processing hundreds of millions of transactions without any problems. With more integrations, developer grants, and Dream Catalyst projects on the way, the months ahead will bring even more exciting surprises.
