Somnia Summer Starts Early As Games, Applications and NFTs Go Live!
Somnia is quickly approaching 1 billion transactions
The summer of Somnia is nearly upon us, and if you’ve been paying attention, the past month has been filled with launches and announcements that start to paint a picture of what’s in store.
There has been a ton of news to keep up with though, so here’s a quick roundup of the biggest highlights!
Approaching 1 Billion Transactions!
In just a few short months, Somnia’s Testnet has hit nearly one billion transactions! This is an unprecedented level of activity that happens when you’re able to put entire games and applications onchain.
We are almost there with 990 million transactions!
A large portion of those transactions came through the games that are popping up on Somnia, especially Chunked, our voxel builder that was ravaged by questing Somniacs over the course of a single weekend, where over a quarter billion transactions took place. Chunked will be back soon in a new and improved format with more resources!
New Games Keep Coming
We’ve also announced a few major games that will be joining the Somnia ecosystem through our Dream Catalyst accelerator program with Uprising Labs, including Night Spawn, a survival horror game with escape room elements.
Uprising Labs has also announced two key infrastructure projects that they are developing for the Somnia ecosystem, Potion Swap, and Gamers L.A.B. Potion Swap is a gamified decentralized exchange, while Gamers L.A.B. and its core product “Battle Records,” allow developers to bring all game data fully onchain, opening the door for more granular achievement systems and even new use cases like prediction markets for games.
The NFT Hype Is Here
NFTs have blown up on Somnia this month, with big launches from some of our partners, and independent artists flocking to the platform to mint their creations. Masks of the Void: Infinity, one of our upcoming games, launched an NFT collection on the Somnia Testnet with almost 300K total mints in just a few days!
We also had a commemorative mint with ForU AI, which generated 1.4 million mints on the Somnia testnet so far. These NFTs are non-transferable and serve as onchain reputation markers within the Somnia ecosystem.
The art and collectable community took notice of Somnia this month, after our integration with NFTs2me, a platform that allows anyone to easily launch their own NFT collection. Since launching in May, over 365K collections have been minted using NFTs2me with over 83K unique holders.
Somnia Is For DeFi Too!
Somnia has also continued to expand its DeFi ecosystem, with numerous project launches and announcements during the month of May. Standard, an innovative onchain central limit order book (CLOB), has launched on the Somnia Testnet, with incredible speeds and a smooth user experience that feels like a centralized exchange.
Euclid is another project that has officially deployed on the Somnia Testnet, introducing its open-source Liquidity Consensus to the network.
We’ve also announced the launch of Somnex, the native one-stop DeFi stack for Somnia users, featuring a swap aggregator, perpetual trading, liquidity layer and meme coin launchpad.
To stay updated with all of the projects joining the Somnia ecosystem, you can follow our ecosystem profile on X and check out the ecosystem page on our website.
Don’t Stop Yapping
So much of Somnia’s growth has been made possible by our community, especially the Yappers. Somnia has been showing some love to our Yappers with a dedicated X profile and numerous campaigns to reward our Yappers. We’ve also launched the Yapper Trophy, which honors the top Yappers in our community with a soulbound NFT.
That’s not all! Soon we have some BIG NEWS coming for the Yappers so make sure you have your notifications on and active for our X profiles so you don’t miss it!
