New Survival Horror Game Coming to Somnia!

NightSpawn is an upcoming horror escape room game being developed through the Dream Catalyst accelerator, a joint initiative from Somnia and Uprising Labs to support game developers building in Web3. In NightSpawn, players must work together to solve intricate puzzles while being hunted by supernatural predators. Inspired by classic horror films like An American Werewolf in London and 30 Days of Night, and games like Dead by Daylight and Outlast Trials, it combines tense survival gameplay with deep, logic-based challenges.

Building on this premise, NightSpawn introduces a dynamic world shaped by ancient legends, where players must navigate shifting environments, cooperate under pressure, and adapt to enemies that evolve with every match.

A Global Surge of Supernatural Activity

It began with small disturbances and isolated disappearances, then strange carvings in ice, and livestock found drained of blood yet otherwise untouched. Most dismissed them as accidents, hoaxes, or signs of wildlife. But as the reports spread across continents, a pattern emerged. These were not isolated events. In the shadows of forests, beneath city streets, and in forgotten corners of the world, creatures once believed to be folklore have begun to return.

An aristocratic vampire drains the lifeblood of villagers in remote Alaska, a sorrowful werewolf haunts the mists of the UK, and a monstrous spider weaves terror in New York’s forgotten tunnels. In the Carpathians, a demonic puppeteer takes control of his victims bodies and forces them to perform for him.

Members of the Hollow Gate Society are left to investigate the growing threat and confront a truth long buried. The stories we once called legends were never fiction. They were warnings.

These are the NightSpawn. And they are not acting alone.

Escape Before the NightSpawn Catch You

NightSpawn combines the thrill of escape rooms with the terror of survival horror, forcing players to navigate a dark world of abandoned police stations, rural towns, and decrepit amusement parks while being hunted by supernatural predators.

Players begin each match by investigating their surroundings, gathering tools, piecing together clues, and attempting to coordinate an escape. This is where the game’s logic-heavy design emerges. Every item has a purpose. Every lock, every hidden panel, every audio cue is a part of a larger riddle. Players must divide roles, delegate tasks, and adapt strategies as they uncover new information.

However, this isn’t a safe or cozy puzzle game. You’ll need to search for clues as the NightSpawn stalk the map, each with unique behaviors, movement patterns, and psychological tactics. Some hunt by sound, others trap rooms or distort perception.

The game adapts constantly. No two matches are the same. Escape routes are randomized. Puzzle combinations change. And with the Tarot Card system, players can introduce new modifiers during a session. A single card may plunge the map into darkness, activate additional NightSpawn, or add secret objectives in exchange for rare rewards.

A Nightmare Catalyst

NightSpawn joins a growing roster of innovative titles supported by Dream Catalyst, a six-month accelerator powered by Somnia and Uprising Labs. Backed by a $10 million grant pool, the program offers funding, mentorship, technical resources, and go-to-market support for studios building on-chain games. Other Dream Catalyst titles include QRusader, Mullet Cop: Mall Sim, Netherak Demons, and Dark Table CCG.
