Inside The First Wave of Dream Catalyst Games Building on Somnia
Gaming has the potential to be the use-case that brings web3 to the masses, but there have been a few things preventing this from happening, until now. The biggest problem was the high cost and low speeds of conventional blockchains, and this is now solved by Somnia’s high performance blockchain. However, there have been limitations at the application-layer as well, with many game developers left to fend for themselves once they deploy on a blockchain.
Launching a game in web3 adds many layers of complexity for developers and takes vital time and resources away from making their games great and taking them to market. This is one of the main reasons that we have yet to see web3 games go mainstream. To change this, Somnia has launched the Dream Catalyst accelerator, a program that gives developers the support they need to succeed in web3.
Dream Catalyst is Somnia’s accelerator program designed to help game studios thrive in Web3. Created in partnership with Uprising Labs, the initiative offers funding, technical support, expert mentorship, and go-to-market guidance to help teams build and scale blockchain-powered games. By removing operational friction and providing the resources developers need from day one, Dream Catalyst ensures that promising titles can focus on gameplay, not backend hurdles.
So far, 4 games have been onboarded into the Somnia ecosystem through Dream Catalyst, with many more on the way. Here’s a breakdown of the titles we’ve announced so far:
Dark Table CCG is a competitive, four-player card game set in a dark, surreal universe inspired by Lovecraftian horror and cosmic politics. As the first Cross-Collectible (C2) Card Game, it blends the social tension of free-for-all 4x4 combat with deep strategic deckbuilding, giving players tools to bluff, form temporary alliances, and shift the tide of battle with calculated moves. Each match unfolds on a 3D animated playmat, where players not only fight for dominance but also express themselves through custom avatars, titles, alternate card art, and fully personalized game tables.
Unlike most digital card games, Dark Table removes the grind. Instead of forcing players to collect cards through loot boxes or long progression trees, it introduces Deck Tokens, a mechanic that lets players instantly unlock full decks and jump straight into high-level play. This model opens up room for theorycrafting, skill expression, and creative experimentation without artificial barriers.
The Under The Table Pass mint from Dark Table went live in early June all 1,007 passes were claimed immediately.
Netherak Demons is a dark-fantasy action RPG that thrusts players into the desolate remains of Imuran, where players take control of customizable demons who must reclaim their lost city by conquering territory, harvesting corrupted resources, and forging weapons from the agony of their enemies. Every battle is a chance to extract valuable materials like Fear, Pain, and Tears that power the game’s core progression systems.
Combat in Netherak Demons is brutal and tactical. Players can craft unique builds using rare armor sets, forged weapons, and branching skill trees that unlock specialized playstyles. Across the game’s ever-expanding maps, players will encounter monstrous enemies, rival champions, and ancient locked zones filled with powerful loot and forgotten lore. These regions offer scarce resources and deadly encounters, rewarding those who take calculated risks and adapt to shifting threats.
The upcoming in-game marketplace will give players more control over their progression and gear, with tools to forge custom weapons and engage in meaningful trade.
Mullet Cop: Mall Sim is a top-down isometric simulator that drops players into the fluorescent dystopia of Megamall 4472-158. Based on the cult graphic novel by Tom Lintern, the game blends absurd satire, retro-futurist design, and customizable gameplay into a one-of-a-kind mall management experience. Players step into the role of Fred “the Mulletcop,” a security officer undercover as a buffet manager, navigating a surreal world where consumerism meets crime-fighting. At its most peaceful, the mall is a bustling hub of harmless shoppers. But thanks to a built-in violence slider, the experience can shift at any moment. Crank it up, and the mall descends into mayhem where fights break out, gangs take over, and security forces clash in chaotic, unscripted events.
The game offers deep creative control through a custom mall-building system that lets players design layouts, place stores, and decorate interiors using a set of intuitive digital tools.
Mullet Cop: Mall Sim is built to reward both creativity and skill. Players can unlock NFT-based power-ups and cosmetics by completing in-game objectives or climbing the leaderboard, with each high score offering a shot at rare digital rewards.
QRusader is a mobile roguelite that turns QR codes into portals for procedurally generated dungeon runs. Players take on the role of a lost knight wandering through a limitless series of hop-based levels, each one uniquely shaped by the complexity of a scanned code.
Every QR code produces a different layout, with its own enemies, visual theme, and level of difficulty. What starts as a casual hop-and-loot experience quickly evolves into a dynamic challenge where no two runs are ever the same. By blending Crossy Road-inspired simplicity with unpredictable procedural generation, QRusader offers instant gameplay that rewards creativity, exploration, and curiosity.
The game’s QR mechanic introduces a real-world dimension to gameplay. Players are encouraged to find and scan QR codes around them, effectively turning their environment into a source of new content. This real-world interaction adds a social layer, inviting players to form communities, trade codes, and collaborate on discovering the most unusual or difficult level seeds.
As the game joins the Somnia ecosystem through the Dream Catalyst accelerator, it will take full advantage of Gamers L.A.B’s Battle Records system which is the infrastructure that stores game metadata on Somnia. With Battle Records, developers can capture gameplay metadata and store it entirely onchain.
Variance is the first live-service anime roguelike RPG, developed by Realm Studios. The game combines high-skill combat, gacha-style progression, and a continuously evolving content model. Players fight through ever-changing dungeons, collect and upgrade a wide roster of characters, and master a deep combat system that rewards timing, positioning, and execution.
Variance introduces a seasonal live-service format that brings new events, maps, and content updates to keep gameplay fresh and competitive. With its anime-inspired art, fast-paced mechanics, and layered progression, the game is built to appeal to both gacha fans and action-RPG players. Realm Studios has already attracted a strong early following, with over 8,800 organic alpha playtesters, $60K in NFT sales, and a 31% D30 retention rate during testing.
In addition to our growing Dream Catalyst catalogue, there’s also an extensive list of other games joining the ecosystem, including Maelstrom, Masks of the Void, and Sparkball.
This summer is going to be huge for Somnia, with many of these titles launching very soon, but this is only the beginning, so follow the new Somnia Games profile on X to stay updated with all the new launches and announcements.
